One reader had a novel solution to make Brooklyn’s Times Plaza more pedestrian friendly. Is it something you’d want to see on Atlantic Avenue?
Comment of the Day
The solution here is a high-quality version of something that is very common in cities in China: a raised platform plaza over the intersection, reached from each corner of the intersection via stairs, escalators and elevators. This would isolate pedestrians from traffic, and in an intersection as large as this one, could create a large and much needed public space. There’s so much traffic there that the whole thing could probably be paid for by putting electronic signage on the sides and having the city get a share of the ad revenue.
