Wasn’t a Polish guy who torched the Greenpoint Terminal. The owner did it. Poor guy…he tends have “issues” with all the buildings that he owns.
It was closed for awhile. Maybe the same Polish guy who set the Greenpoint Terminal market on fire did it.
Farkus – I thought it had been closed? It changed its name to 718 back in 2005 or so, and had been getting awful reviews. I haven’t been there since early in the 718 days, when the garden was open, but I was under the impression that it had closed a while ago.
Diner, Relish and Miss Favela are crowded on weekends (and weeknights), but I thought this place had closed.
Restaurants are closing faster than Starbucks. Growing up in the Bronx, arson was the norm. It’s amazing that the place is already being stripped out.
That diner was great, and packed to the brim every weekend. I would think a lot of others went down the insurance fraud route before they did.
I drove by there yesterday – all of the metal cladding on the diner car part of the building has been stripped off. All wood underneath.
There are growing concerns that arson is on the rise because of the swan diving economy. Insurance agents are busier than ever in reviewing authentic and false claims.
