Early Thursday morning a fire gutted the former Miss Williamsburg Diner on Kent Avenue between Metropolitan and North 3rd Street. This weekend, we stopped by to survey the damage. Someone had already taken down the police tape so it was pretty easy to survey the damage. GMAP

  1. Wasn’t a Polish guy who torched the Greenpoint Terminal. The owner did it. Poor guy…he tends have “issues” with all the buildings that he owns.

  2. Farkus – I thought it had been closed? It changed its name to 718 back in 2005 or so, and had been getting awful reviews. I haven’t been there since early in the 718 days, when the garden was open, but I was under the impression that it had closed a while ago.

Diner, Relish and Miss Favela are crowded on weekends (and weeknights), but I thought this place had closed.

  3. There are growing concerns that arson is on the rise because of the swan diving economy. Insurance agents are busier than ever in reviewing authentic and false claims.
