Applebee’s is a getting a neighbor. A sign just went up in the window of one of the long-empty storefronts at 395 Flatbush Avenue Extension in Downtown Brooklyn announcing the imminent arrival of 7-Eleven. Eagle-eyed trackers of DOB filings would have known about this well over a month ago because of permit for interior work at the space. Seems like a pretty good fit for that location.
Make fun of chains all you want, but they’re more successful than you average boutique or hipstere cafe could ever hope to be.

Separate note, does anyone know anything about the new Berlyn restaurant taking over Thomas beisl across from BAM? Is it a beer garden?
