The reactivation of upper-floor space along the Fulton Mall continues. Last week we reported that Berkeley College was going to be taking space on the second floor at 543 Fulton Street. Yesterday, The Post broke the news that Long Island University would lease 120,000 square feet on the three upper floors at 490 Fulton Street for student housing; as we initially reported, the building changed owners back in March. The new owners, who already own a number of buildings on the commercial stretch, are seeking new tenants for the retail stores on the ground floor.

  1. That is the old Loeser’s Dept Store. After that, it was McCrory’s Five and Ten. Now dorm space. What the bricks in this building have seen over the years.

I think dorms are a good idea. Much better than unused storage, or lying empty. It’s a huge building.
