It’s not the most obvious location for a restaurant, but someone’s planning on making a go the ground-floor space at 189 Bridge Street, aka Bridgeview Tower. As you may recall, this tower is a rental/condo hybrid for the moment. Anyway, some brave soul has already set up all the tables and chairs and is apparently awaiting a liquor license. Hopefully there will be take-out business from Metrotech, or it’s hard to see how this place will be able to do enough volume. GMAP
This building is doing so bad in sales, my guess is that the developers are faking that a restaurant is opening up to attract more suckers to purchase into this bad investment. I walked in during an open house a few weeks ago – this place is a ghost town. A savvy restauranteur would NOT invest here. The ikea furniture is also a huge indication that this is the case.
Downtown Brooklyn doesn’t have a prohibition era speakeasy cocktail bar yet.
The people in those rental towers need to drink their Manhattans somewhere ya know.
Chinese would be a big hit there
IF the food is good, the people will come.
