A homeowner would like to gain some extra space in their backyard by filling in a window well, but are wondering if they might regret the action.

A homeowner would like to gain some extra space in their backyard by filling in a window well, but are wondering if they might regret the action. While the well is currently covered by a metal hatch the homeowner is contemplating a more permanent solution by bricking up the window and filling in the hole. What are the possible pros and cons?
