Homeowners are being advised by a general contractor that they can add some internal support beams without going through the permitting process. Although they aren’t moving any walls, they will be pulling electrical and plumbing permits and are concerned that doing any structural work without permitting could put the project at risk. What should they consider before moving ahead?
Please chime in with your advice.
