A Brownstoner reader is renovating a single-family wood-frame house by extending it on three sides. She wants to know: Can this be filed as an Alt-1 permit, or does it need to be filed as a new building?
One commenter explains that if most of the current structure is being demolished then it would require a new building permit, but if it’s enlarging what’s already there it would likely be an Alt-1. Have you gone through this type of renovation? Share your thoughts below.
