They would like to do some renovations to their row house but are homeowners are a bit confused about whether the changes they want to make would be considered an alt-1 or an alt-2. No surprise, there isn’t a certificate of occupancy but the Department of Buildings lists it as a two-family. They haven’t decided if they will renovate to use as a one-family or keep it as a two-family. What should they consider before making a decision?
Please chime in with your advice.
