A gut renovation is being planned and homeowners are contemplating managing the subcontractors themselves rather than having a general contractor oversee the project. They may bring in a general contractor for some specific portions of the project but will start the renovation by hiring plumbers and electricians to put in new plumbing and wiring. They hope the plan will shorten their renovation timeline. What should they consider before starting down this path?
