One topic to be explored will be the differences between city and suburban home ownership. “When you’re moving from the city, it’s quite a difference,” said David R. Lachtman, from Lachtman Cohen Law in White Plains, New York City and Greenwich. “With a condo or co-op, you don’t have to worry about any structural issues, building systems and exterior maintenance because that’s usually handled by the managing agent. But when you’re buying a home, the landscaping, the driveway, the garbage removal, the plumbing, heating, the roof — it’s all on you.”

That’s why Lachtman and his firm suggest that home buyers have a licensed home inspector or building engineer come in and inspect the property. “Very, very important,” he said.

Drinks and snacks will be served by Oaxaca Taqueria. Sponsors include Houlihan Lawrence, Thoroughbred MortgageThoroughbred Title, and Lachtman Cohen Law.
