Brklyn-Film-Festival-4-21-15

The Brooklyn Film Festival’s mission has always been to draw attention to Brooklyn as an international hub for cinema and to promote filmmaking within the borough. In its pursuit of that goal the festival selects official entries among submissions from over 100 different countries.

The theme of this year’s festival is “Illuminate.” Submissions “must reflect furious, explosive, uncontainable, creative intelligence,” according to the event website. Judges will give awards across a number of categories, totaling $50,000 in prizes and film services.

The festival runs from May 29 to June 7 at venues across Williamsburg, Greenpoint and Dumbo. BTW, don’t confuse the Brooklyn Film Festival with the Art of Brooklyn Film Festival, which we wrote about last week. For more information, visit the festival’s site.
