Little Essentials

Little Essentials is a community response to a community need. In June 2010, our founder Sandie Trombert was inspired to action after reading a post on her local parent listserv from a volunteer at a city agency pleading for baby clothing for a pregnant mother living in a homeless shelter. She spotted this post among many others from parents who had a surplus of baby items and were looking for ways to donate goods and “pay it forward.” Trombert immediately contacted those parents giving away items and drove around her neighborhood to collect them and provide them to the agency. She soon became a go-to resource for various city and social agencies serving low-income families in Brooklyn. In May of 2011, Trombert established Little Essentials as a not-for-profit organization.
