Closing Bell: SantaCon 2009

It was Saturday and time for the annual rite of winter known as SantaCon. There were two starting points in Brooklyn this year—Franklin Park in Crown Heights and McCarren Park in Green point—after which the packs of Santa-themed revelers converged with similarly-minded packs from Astoria and Hoboken in Washington Square Park. The Village Voice followed the Crown Heights group around for the day and has a fun slide show to show for it, as does Gothamist; and here’s a set from McCarren. Not surprisingly, Flickr chock full of photos of the event.

happy holidays! 🙂
I don’t mind the Santas so much. I HATED the annoying invisible dog walkers though. Mr. B should’ve explained that SantaCon is an annual Santa Convention. It’s a non-profit that collects food for a food drive. According to the website, it also seems to be a pub crawl and favors stripper poles. Frankly whoever wrote the directions belongs on the OT.

no offense, new york… but the santa speedo run in boston is way better than this
These are probably the same douchebags who were walking their invisible dogs through Brooklyn Heights and Downtown not that long ago.
Seeing dozens of Santas on the 4 train thoroughly confused my three-year old. He asked if they each had their own MetroCard.
This looks like so much fun! Will have to remember for next year.
Hey look – people having fun. BOOO I hate them.
