The Sixth Annual Crown Heights North house tour is coming up October 5, and the 35th Annual Bed Stuy tour is scheduled for October 19. A beautifully intact and updated Crown Heights house, 1234 Dean Street, above, which we featured as a House of the Day, will be on the tour. Click through to the jump for another look at the house’s original stove, and to see how the owners incorporated it into a newly renovated kitchen.

My house will be on this years tour if you want to check it out pre-renovation. Hoping by next year the finished product will be on the tour to compare.

We have 9 houses and 2 historic churches, this year. All of them are great. Please come on over on October 5th. We’ll even feed you in the morning, at 10:45. The tour begins at St. Gregory the Great Church, corner of St. Johns Place and Brooklyn Avenue.

  • My house will be on the Crown Heights tour. I’m sure thousands of ‘Brownstoner’ regulars are excited about this rare opportunity. ;-) We’ve been cleaning, and de-cluttering. Many projects remain undone. The house is not spectacular, but rather only typical perhaps. It looks like the asters will be blooming in the garden by then.

Hal, Wasn’t your house once featured on this site? And you were a frequent commentator, IIRC. Anyway, it’s good to hear from you again and it’ll be fun to see your house. “Typical” is usually more interesting than “spectacular”. Don’t you have wine storage in the cellar you built yourself?

      • NeoGrec, you remember correctly. When we first moved in 11 years ago I was somewhat more active here, and was one of the first few who submitted pictures for the now defunct ‘My Brownstone’ feature. If you show up on the tour, please introduce yourself. By the way, I didn’t ‘build’ the wine cellar, I simply put some old racks in the basement of the extension at the back of the house.
