The whimsical Victorian confection at 111 Clarkson Avenue in Prospect Lefferts Gardens is for sale again and possibly facing the wrecking ball. Owner Raphael Berger offered it for $3,150,000 in 2007, according to the Times, but there were no takers. Now it’s being marketed variously as a “must see Romanesque Queen-Anne Victorian…historical gem” for $2,950,000 by Fillmore and as a developers tear-down for $3,250,000 by Exit Alliance Realty:

Absolutely Amazing One Of A Devlopers Dream. Buildable Lot Of 12000 Sqft With Far 3.44. Comes With R7-1 & R-6 Zoning. Three Blocks From Kings County Hospital Center & Downstate Medical Center. In The Hub Of The Best Commercial Zone In Brooklyn. Very Competitive Pricing! Have To Knock The Existing Building Down. Will Deliver Vacant!

Originally, the house — lauded for its “berserk eclecticism” by the AIA Guide — had a pressed-metal dome over the now-altered porch. New York Public Library photos from 1978 show impressive interiors, which seemed to be largely intact when the Times’ Christopher Gray visited in 2007. We hope someone will buy the property and restore it, but that doesn’t seem likely. Think it will sell in this market?
