As long as we’ve lived in the neighborhood (eight years), the entrance and exit to the Met on Fulton Street between St. James and Cambridge Place has been penned in by metal barrier designed, we assume, to stop people from stealing shopping carts. Well, that barrier is no longer: At some point in the last few days it was taken down with the positive result that the store no longer looks like a fortress or penitentiary. The move comes on the heels of other efforts to upgrade the shopping experience over the past couple of years like adding more organic foods and new wicker shopping baskets.
