Eternal Return at NATUREart
The non-profit gallery NURTUREart launches a new group show tonight with the opening of Eternal Return. Curated by Christine Spangler and Tyler Wriston, the exhibition features Jonathan Brilliant (above), Cody Trepte, Thomas Lendvai, Reuben Lorch-Miller, Judith Braun, Joy Curtis and Tara Parsons. The opening party is tonight from 7 to 9 p.m. and then open through February 12, 2 to 4 p.m. NURTUREart is located at 910 Grand Street in East Williamsburg.

Kombit Coming Together for Haiti
This weekend Lab 24/7 is having a fundraiser for Haiti. The event is called Kombit which means to come together for the good of the community in Haitian creole. The lineup includes several talented people including some from the neighborhood, like Taylor McFerrin and Akua Taylor. To RSVP, email RSVP@LAB247.NET. Haiti Benefit Show
Hamptons for Haiti is an organization hosting a series of benefit concerts to support Haitian earthquake victims. It was founded by musician and Hamptons local Dan Bailey in the hours following the tragic earthquake. His band, Living Rhythm, of which bassist Obed Jean Louis is Haitian, immediately began preparing weekly events to support the cause. One of Living Rhythm’s vocalists, Zulu Kheswa, was able to personally recommend the Yéle Haiti Foundation, which was founded by her mentor and native Haitian, grammy-award winning artist Wyclef Jean. To help support and donate, come and watch Dan Bailey & Living Rhythm perform at Le Grand Dakar Restaurant. The Brooklyn Flea
The Flea is located at the former bank at One Hanson for the rest of the winter. The clocktower Art Deco building at Flatbush Ave., across from the Target mall, will be the Flea’s new home every Saturday and Sunday through March, for 12 weekends only. The Flea features 100 vendors and a great mix of vintage, antiques, jewelry, and food. Saturday & Sunday, January 24 & 25. 10 a.m. – 5 p.m. Free. 1 Hanson Place, Skylight One Hanson.

Bingo Night
The Brooklyn Women’s Rugby Football Club is hosting a night of bingo at Rocky Sullivan’s. All proceeds will benefit the rugby team. The cost is $10 for 2 cards and $2 for each additional card. Gordon Chambers & Ensemble
The award-winning singer-songwriter-producer and recording artist Gordon Chambers and his ensemble will perform live during Lafayette Avenue’s Jazz Vespers service. After the service, Gordon Chambers will be signing copies of his latest album, “Love Stories”. CDSC Starving Artist Art Show and Sale
The event will feature original artwork for sale by local artists, live music, a drum circle, with wine and hors d’oeuvres. CDSC shall receive a 50% commission from all art sales and purchases are tax deductable. CDSC’s main building at 352 Classon Avenue, houses a number of community programs, including preventive services, child care services, and an emergency food pantry. The aim is to convert the fifth floor, comprising of 4,500 square feet, with exposure on three sides, to a Community Arts Centre.   1. “Eternal Return” could refer to the concept espoused by Mircea Eliade discussing the difference between sacred and profane space, or sacred and non-sacred space, in his book The Myth of the Eternal Return.

    Introductory comparative religion reading, and quite fascinating. I already like that place if that’s where the name comes from.
