A homeowner has an automated water meter and is finding large spikes in their water use that don’t seem to make sense. A recent increase more than tripled the amount of their monthly bill — and they don’t have any plumbing issues that could be causing a problem. They have been going online to the NYC DEP tracking site, but aren’t sure how to interpret the information about their daily usage. How accurate have other users found the information regarding usage?

Please chime in with any advice.
