We’re trying to figure out what to make of this listing at 57 Hicks Street in Brooklyn Heights. The two family house was on the market for a few days in February before disappearing and then reappearing again in April with the same price tag of $2,999,999. Based on the location, the exterior architecture and the width (25 feet), the price seems low to us. So what could be holding the listing back? Only a couple of possibilities we can think of…1) It’s divided up into a double-duplex, not the configuration of choice for a heavy-hitting Heights buyer; 2) The interior has not maintained its original character, which seems like a reasonable conclusion based on the one photo included with the listing. Anyone seen this place?

wow, you have to really be an animal hater to think that proximity to a vet’s office is a deal-breaker. That vet is housed in one of the most charming and historic federal-era houses in Brooklyn.
the selling point of these early houses is their width and the light. They do not have a lot of fancy woodwork or plasterwork like the later brownstones. This house is a gem. I would restore the facade, get a nicer front fence, and build a spectacular rooftop deck and garden.
Looks like a nice house. It needs some restoration and upgrades but that is reflected in the price. First thing to do is to restore the ground floor windows and remove the suburban picture window.
Are there more pictures? The one picture makes it look like all the charm has been leached out of the interior.
the super-wide lens is so distorting that i do not even recognize the house.
