Like a slice of Gatsby on the waterfront in Glen Cove, overlooking Glen Cove Creek, a wooded preserve and the Long Island Sound, nearly 1,100 condos and rental apartments will populate the new Garvies Point development.
The new development’s waterfront access provides a rarefied perk: The Glen Cove Ferry takes about 45 minutes to get to Manhattan, one reason Brooklynites — and Manhattanites looking for a closer waterfront alternative to the Hamptons — have been expressing interest.
The 167-unit Beacon condo complex will offer one-, two- and three-bedroom residences ranging from 906 to 2,052 square feet, with prices starting at $575,000. Eight-foot windows and 10-foot ceilings will allow an abundance of light.
Residents will have access to a variety of outdoor spaces, including rooftop terraces at the penthouse level, courtyard terraces and outdoor balconies for nearly every unit in the building. There’s also an outdoor pool, fitness center, yoga studio, lounge and screening room.
Amenities also include a doorman, concierge and electric-car charging stations.
The 385-unit Harbor Landing rental complex will offer a mix of studios, one- and two-bedroom apartments ranging from 500 to 1,300 square feet, with a fitness center, club lounge, private dining room, on-site parking, and an outdoor pool.
The back-to-nature aspect of Garvies Point has been a chief selling point, highlighted by the 28-acre walkable design. There’s a beach and boardwalk, parks and lawn space, bike paths, playgrounds, amphitheater and an ecology pier.
There will be more than 75,000 square feet of shops, boutiques and cafes, from the same architects who brought the Empire Stores to Dumbo.
Boaters and water sport enthusiasts will enjoy the nearby marinas with boat, kayak and stand-up paddle board launches.
Meanwhile, developer RXR’s commitment to the revitalization of Glen Cove extends to Village Square, a reconstruction of a patch of downtown that will create a public plaza, retail, dining, entertainment and 146 rental units just a mile from Garvies Point.
Occupancy in Beacon and Harbor Landing begins Fall 2019.
