Testimonials
Dear Martin, I would like to sincerely thank you and your team for completing the extensive renovation of my client's Chelsea loft apartment with true professionalism, timeliness and constant attention to detail. As an interior designer, with training as an architect myself, it has been challenging to find a contractor who meets my high expectations. You not only always met my expectations but also often exceeded them with your own personal commitment to perfection. I also truly appreciate your willingness to collaborate and provide your professional counsel on matters that impacted the design, budget or schedule. Once again, it was a pleasure to complete this project with you and I look forward to continuing our collaboration in the future. I am more than willing to speak to any of your clients if they would like a personal reference. They can reach me at 347-819-1919 or at drincon@ diegoalejandrodesign.com.
Diego RinconI am writing to express our appreciation and satisfaction with work performed by MRTA Design Construction for three residential projects we recently completed. We were impressed by the quality of the work, the care and attention to detail, and the ability to solve any problems that arose on the job site. Martin Tomczyk controlled the flow of the projects, all of which were completed within the promised schedule, and contributed to the process with hands on, daily supervision. The work was done with a positive attitude and with a real attention to the clients' needs and specifications. We appreciate all that MRTA brings to the design and construction process, and we highly recommend them as General Contractor.
Stephen Potters, ArchitectMartin Tomczyk and his staff were terrific and professional from the bid process through to the punch list for this project. It was a challenging project that involves the addition of a new glass and steel stair that connects the duplex to a roof top deck with a new bulkhead, the complete renovation of the duplex apartment that included new bathrooms, new kitchen finishes, and total refinishing of all other surfaces including custom millwork for the bedroom and study. MRTA was able to negotiate the client’s desire as well as their concern regarding budget and schedule during the whole process. In addition, MRTA was able to maintain both the client and the architect’s design intent within a budget. Despite the various challenges that can occur within a New York City alteration project regarding DOB, Co-Op Board, limited access and work hours, MRTA was able to coordinate all phases of the project to ensure a reasonable delivery schedule. Lastly, I would add this was one of the most positive experiences with a General Contractor due to the fact that we can genuinely trust the action of MRTA to be in the best interest of the project, in terms of balancing the quality of finish, the construction costs, and the schedule. I would highly recommend MRTA to my professional colleagues as well as future clients.
Jason Lee, tentwentyMartin Tomczyk. the owner of MRTA Design Construction Inc, was the contractor for The New American Cinema Group / The Film-Maker's Cooperative office renovation I recently designed in midtown Manhattan. Martin showed great organizational and technical proficiency and a keen understanding of the limited budgetary issues. His subcontractors were professional and the project was constructed in a timely manner He also possesses an architect's eye for material selections. details and composition which enabled me to design the project from another city, as he constantly sent me progress photographs for discussion and approval. I would recommend him highly based on the work he has done for me and based on completed projects for other clients that I have visited.
Scott Weinkle, ArchitectWorking with Martin Tomczyk and his staff proved to be a very positive experience. At all times, MRTA worked with both the client and architect to promote a high level balance between design, schedule, budget, and (perhaps most importantly) adaptations / changes. MRTA also showed themselves to have great technical proficiency and rigorous attention towards details. All parties were satisfied with the work quality and the experience upon completion.

Tom FallonDear Martin: It was a pleasure to work with you on my apartment alterations which included the following: demolition of the kitchen, bathroom, metal door frames, and two non-structural walls; installation of: new baseboard and door moldings, sliding closet doors, new bathroom pocket door (and build out of new wall), electrical lighting and outlets, pedestal sink, tanked toilet, plumbing fixtures, valves, and appliances; and refinishing of the wood floors throughout the unit. Beginning with our initial walkthrough of the space, I was impressed by your professionalism, attention to detail, and proficiency in carpentry, electrical, and plumbing. Your ability to deliver a quality initial estimate and your patience and promptness in answering my questions differentiated you from other contractors I interviewed for the project. Every project has its challenges and mine was no exception, but your subcontractors worked efficiently to meet deadlines imposed by a potential building workers' strike and despite obstacles in sourcing and receiving materials. I appreciated your ability to deliver the project within 5% of the contract estimate all while taking special care to select quality materials and recommend key upgrades to complement the overall design and function of the space. I'm looking forward to showing off your work to friends and family. Please do not hesitate to add me to your list of references.
