About
The partners, Betim Jusufaj and Isaac Esterman, met eleven years ago working together on an apartment renovation in Manhattan. Despite different backgrounds (and languages) we realized we shared a common outlook on construction practices.
In particular, we believe that there is no such thing as too much preparation. Taking the time to understand project goals and architectural intent is not working slowly, it’s working efficiently, and respect for design and for quality will produce visible results.
Betim has twelve years of experience as a carpenter and superintendent on renovation and new construction jobs. He has an enthusiasm for technical detail and an experienced foreman’s understanding of construction methods and best practices. He is a certified passive house tradesperson and led the renovation of the first building in Brooklyn to achieve passive house status. Betim is responsible for oversight of all of BZJ’s day to day operations and site management.
Isaac graduated from Columbia University with a B.A. in urban studies in 1999. His professional background includes oversight of residential, commercial and public development. He has 15 years of project management experience and a planner’s mindset for project organization and sequencing.
Between the two of us, we offer two sets of eyes and the ability to manage the daily demands of managing a construction job as well as to provide the logistical support and organization that a high-end project demands.
