About
The work of Sonya Lee Architect deftly combines a strong conceptual approach with pragmatic solutions specific to the conditions and potential presented with each project. With each project, we emphasize the thoughtful making of meaningful space by working carefully with clients, consultants and contractors.
Each project is unique – no one lives, plays + works the same, so why should your space be generic too?
We view each project as a collaboration. While we seek design solutions that are creative, the success lies in the crafting details and spaces that are functional to you – for now and in the future.
We are resourceful: We design at varying scales from furniture to buildings. With over 15 years of experience, we have established a team and network of consultants that can expand and contract based on the needs of the project
Prior to starting her own firm in 2011, Sonya was an Associate at Toshiko Mori Architect where she led several award winning projects including the Greatbatch Pavilion and the House in Ghent. She received a dual degree at the University of Michigan (B.S. in Architecture and a B.A. in History of Art) and Master of Architecture from Columbia University, where she was the recipient of the Lucille Smyser Lowenfish Prize.
Sonya is a registered architect in the states of New York, Michigan and Florida and is NCARB Certified. She is a LEED accredited professional with a specialty in green building design and construction.
