After being in contract for as long as three years in some cases, buyers are finally closing and moving into the 14-unit condo building at 659 Bergen. The Karl Fischer-designed building in Prospect Heights did not receive its final certificate of occupancy until May.
Then it turned out some of the building’s backers had filed a lis pendens against the property in February over an internal squabble they were having amongst themselves, developer Boaz Gilad of Brookland Capital told us, so buyers still could not close. The lis pendens was recently removed, and closings started.
“As of the last few weeks we have closed on seven units out of the 14 units, and all is well,” said Gilad.
Meanwhile, Brookland Capital is working on yet another project on Bergen Street, 954 Bergen, in addition to the two other Bergen Street buildings we wrote about yesterday. The project for 954 Bergen is a six-story, 38-unit apartment building, as we reported in July.
