Curbed reports the 2,000-square-foot pad sold for $2,240,150 to the LED artist Teddy Lo and his wife. (As Curbed notes, this is not part of the $5.145 million penthouse combo sale that went into contract in 2008 and is closing soon.) Canarsie has some cool houses. They list them as tear-downs, but they are victorian mansions.
pete, what makes you think there are no artists living in places like canarsie? believe it not many artists dont tie their egos to whatever neighborhood happens to be cool

“Damn I am so sick of the artists ruining all these neighborhoods with their fancy new condos and multi-million dollar apartments”
Your’e not sick- You’re “JEALOUS”

Damn I am so sick of the artists ruining all these neighborhoods with their fancy new condos and multi-million dollar apartments,
say what you will about the architecture on the waterfront – i think it’s coming along nicely as a residential enclave. tons of foot traffic along kent on the weekends, the pier connecting 184 Kent/NSP/The Edge is finally open, and has tons of seating and is open all night. Close to all of the retail is leased in all the buildings as well.
sure, it has all the charm of battery park city – but walk 15 steps across kent and you’re back in civilization.

without even googling I am guessing rauschenberg comic stuff with led lights. Art as “schtick” is kind of annoying. Not that artists haven’t always cultivated unique styles, but these days it’s all about finding a new thing no one else does, then doing it to death, then selling it to rich people so they can has the culture.
He’s made of LEDs.
