A reader just sent in this photo of the facade collapse at Sackett Street between Court and Clinton, which the Brooklyn Paper reported this morning was the result of the storm on Monday. The structure isn’t in danger of collapse, but DOB deemed it too dangerous to inhabit and its 14 tenants have been evacuated. Has anyone seen it today?

  1. I was wondering what was up. I walk by yesterday and it looked like the most precise fire damage I had ever seen. There are many small buildings between Court and Smith that have been seriously neglected over the years with owners attempting to cash out before something as weird as this happens.

  2. The construction style is wood frame, brick fill. It’s medieval technology, but then again the house has lasted 150+ years. Clearly this house was not properly maintained. The phot shows some serious roof curvature.

  3. It’s on Sackett between Smith and Court and it’s been a total dump and visibly sagging for years. It should have been torn down long ago. The occupants seem transient and I could never figure what was going on there.

  4. did they stucco right over the old asphalt shingles?!? How did it stay up for that long? Guessing the family that lives there doesn’t own it, and guessing that rent isn’t cheap, so I feel bad for these people.
