The marble-clad House of the Day we featured last week is now in contract for $1,400,000, the broker told us. It is an all-cash deal, he said. The house at 326A Decatur Street in Bed Stuy is one of just a handful of marble row houses in Brooklyn. In addition to the neighbors of 326A Decatur, there are a few in Carroll Gardens, including 192 and 194 President Street, according to commenters. The asking price was $1,250,000, which puts the winning bid at $150,000 over ask. The broker was Evans & Nye.

  1. Conservatively, Stuy Heights prices have risen 50% in the past two years. Probably even more. This house has some nice details but is nothing extraordinary. My guess is that prices will soon start to plateau. Other than the lunatic Brownstoner posters who always predict economic collapse no matter what happens, do you guys agree?

And on a different note, does anyone know what “Brookland” — just around the corner from this place, on Malcolm X — is going to be?

  2. because the amenities still suck around there. for 1.4 mil i want more than peaches and saranginha and somewhere decent to buy groceries nearby. not to say that won’t happen, but it clearly hasn’t yet.
