House of the Day: 256 Lincoln Road
Gorgeous! That’s our first reaction to seeing the photos for this new listing at 256 Lincoln Road in Prospect Lefferts Gardens. The bay-front brownstone has tons of original details and appears to be in excellent shape (including a renovated kitchen). The only potential drawback (assuming you’re down with the location) is the fact that there are only two floors above grade, although the English basement in this case has been fixed up to include an office and rec area. The asking price is $899,000. What do you make of that?

A *LOT* of the original detail has been stripped out of this house, which is too bad. I believe the owners have already moved out, which is why the house looks a bit empty in the photos. It’s a great value, though, in a great neighborhood.
Balderdash is right, Sir Marvin! NYC generally a great place to be if you’re afraid of murder (our rate is WAY low even by suburban standards).
But frankly AStringer, if you’re spending so much time worried about murder, a crime which is usually committed by people who know the victim, then my first piece of advice would be to get a whole new set of friends and acquaintances.
And you, theFed, you just called Crown Heights, Clinton Hill and Bed Stuy ghettos. ALL of those neighborhoods? And ALL the families who live there are idiots? And what qualifies “ghetto?” You’re a fool, a racist, or you don’t get out much.
Bob, thank God we don’t have neighbors like those two! Oh, and yeah, the house is priced a bit high.
Balderdash!
thefed is right!
Go to http://projects.nytimes.com/crime/homicides/map and type in the address, there were so many homicides by firearm in this neighborhood i would never move there if i cared for my wife and children!
BoerumHill,
It’s not, on ANY of the points “thefed” raises.

…
The area is a ghetto with crime stats similar to crown heights and bed stuy. clinton hill although segregated is safer. people who live in the manor live in a bubble. Asking $900K for a 2br is a joke-not that fools won’t bite. You can get one for $200k in one of the buildings at the same or nearby block…
…
This doesn’t strike me as an informed opinion.
I think it’s a great amount of house.
“I so wish you would explain why you often call two stories a drawback.”
because this cannot accommodate say a family of 4 nor of course have a rental (not that you can in this area) nor a guest room. This is practically a 2br.

I didn’t think they were photoshopped.
I just had the thought, “Wow, another example of having too much house… two chairs and a coffee table, cuz ya know, you’ve gotta put *something* in the room you don’t use/need.”
