There’s no accounting for taste. This three-family house at 184 West 9th Street was recently renovated and while the interior is just bland in a Home Depot kind of way this facade is one for the record books. What were they thinking! There’s a lot of square footage so maybe the asking price of $1,899,000 will end up working for an investor. It’s hard to imagine a buyer falling in love with this.

  1. Every time I pass by that place I HAVE TO rub my hand along the granite rail. It’s so pink and smooth and glassy.

The window display is amazing. One of the 7 wonders of Brooklyn. It’s really great.

It’s way over-the-top in a way that commands your attention. Even if that attention is mostly shock and dismay.

    It’s got balls.

Big, shiny, scary balls. But still – balls.

  2. for all you naysaers, here is the value in this deal:

    1) move property to south beach (land is free; use fake name and SS#)
    2) $35 a night x 30 nights x 3 apts x 12 months = $38k /yr x 30x rent = $1.1mm
    3) open $50 million a year medicare fraud business in broom closet
    4) abandon property
    5) retire and sing “i’m on a boat”

    what’s not to like? you’re on a f-in boat!

Wrong culture methinks, but I love those guys. They really cheer up a drab evening commute.

oh honeychile they most certainly do NOT! i read on the subway, and when they play i literally cannot read grrrrrr. and judging by most people they are the least liked subway performers. but you cant fault people for trying to survive in these tough times.. so ill grin and bare it for now.

  4. It’s a case of a broker telling the owner what they want (need) to hear to get the listing. They financed the botchification of their house, and end a decade of wild price appreciation in their neighborhood with no equity.

  5. Noki-
“somewhat reasonable”? Um, no. deduct the basement from that sq.ft. number. Notice Corcoran called it interior square feet not habitable square feet.
IMHO given the location, facade, layout and finishes they have listed it for more than double what they will ultimately get. I can’t believe I’m going to say this but I almost feel sorry for the broker.
