This beautiful colonial house at 55 83rd Street in Bay Ridge was on the market earlier this year and after a brief summer vacation, is back on again with the same asking price of $3,350,000. We won’t pretend to know whether that’s a good value or not. Instead we’ll spend our time drooling over the original interiors and suburban-like 80-by-100-foot lot. Pretty sweet indeed.

  1. The interiors aren’t much to be “drooling over” and I don’t just mean the decor. Those aren’t original floors; they really look new. That horrible stripey cinnamon color gives it away. And are there details, are there even moldings? That high school is a beautiful building and well kept grounds. Still, not thrilling to look at (and hear) a high school across the street in lieu of a row of attractive houses. Of course that will affect price. Clearly it does, because as Brownstoner says they tried before and couldn’t sell this house. This is a 2nd attempt.

  2. I think my grandmother decorated this house. But if you stripped the wallpaper and put in your own furniture, Mr. B would earn his drooling rights.

The floors look funny. Too shiny and smooth. New, maybe?

Not only is it smack next to athletic fields, it is completely exposed to them. A privacy hedge would help that.

Please to give more information about the tsunami. I need a theoretical disaster to distract me from the real economic disaster unfolding in slow motion.

  3. DIBS — What about that tsunami? How high will it be? I saw that special on it years ago, and felt that it never answered the important question of where do I need to go when it starts to roll.

  4. and FYI Ft. Hamilton HS is very far from ghetto high school. Do a google image search and you will see the building and its grounds are actually quite stately. Even the athletic field and track are high end. Italiana is correct, this is a very primo area of BR. Go check it out before you haters judge.

  5. Ft. Hamilton HS is the farthest from a ghetto high school. do a google image search of it. a rather stately building and grounds actually! That said, I too would not want to live directly across from their athletic fields. Otherwise this area is a pretty sweet spot in BR.

  6. This is a beautiful part of Bay Ridge. I practically live at the park this is across the street from and if the kids are hanging out, its in the park on the other side from the house where the handball courts are, not on the street. So its a nice quiet block.

Overpriced, yes. Isn’t everything in Brooklyn?
