House of the Day: 900 Greene Avenue
This new listing at 900 Greene Avenue gets our renovation juices flowing. The 18-foot-wide brownstone is in pretty rough shape but there are tons of original details just calling out for some TLC. This new listing at 900 Greene Avenue gets our renovation juices flowing. The 18-foot-wide brownstone is in pretty rough shape but there are tons of original details just calling out for some TLC. That’s why, even at $575,000, we’re not sure the asking price is low enough, especially when you consider that the house is located pretty far east in Bed Stuy. The block looks so-so, though unfortunately there’s a row of three new townhouses directly across the street that certainly detract from the historic ambience.

Thats the property profile of the building on DOB’s website.
Next to SRO restricted, it says “YES” in capital letters

Thats from HPD’s website…2 class “A” units, 7 class “B” units.
Clearly an SRO.
Yr close to Bushwick! And the house is a bit overpriced it has a lot of potential. Negotiate!
and the JMZ are actually good and useful trains.
Yes, the floor looks rough, but how is that water damage? It’s on the parlor level, I would assume the ceiling would take some serious beatings before the floor got it. No?
It’s too far northeast. Practically in Bridgeport.
Enough with the “too far East” phrase. Dave is exactly right. Too far North.
Property is lis pendens since September for tax liens, but no underlying mortgage. Very murky ownership history – good luck getting a clean title on that one. It’s NOT an SRO – there is no C of O and its tax class is 5 – 6 families, so commercial financing required, but NO SRO. Property also listed for sale by another broker for $450K on PropertyShark. PDE agent should have done his homework! Good luck with that one.
399k maybe
I find it a minor miracle here that none of the detailed woodwork appears to have been painted over (a major pet peeve of mine) I guess even SRO owners can care sometimes!
From the look of the floors, the water damage must be extensive. You might not be able to save much of the original details on the ceilings/floors.
