In recent days, DOT has been implementing its much-discussed plan to make Flushing Avenue along the Navy Yard more friendly to bicyclists. Although the original plan that called for making Flushing a one-way street was shot down, a modified plan that calls for a single two-way bike lane east of Washington and two separate one-way bike lanes west of Washington won widespread support. When we cycled past yesterday morning, the permanent lines were painted as far west as about North Oxford Street.

  1. The worst breed of this species though, are not the delivery guys. It’s the headphone wearing, helmetless, just out for a stroll type.

    I love the ones out for a little spin and a cigarette.

  2. Having had my safety compromised many times by this species I can say that bike salmon are not fazed by anything.

    Maybe a car or bike coming straight at them will give them pause, but words are completely useless.
