Co-op of the Day: 65 Montague Street, #A1
This Corcoran listing at 65 Montague Street just popped up in the Marketplace. While clearly the ground-floor status doesn’t help the sales effort, the parquet and other original details combined with the Brooklyn Heights location are big positives. The chance to get a 1,000-square-foot two-bedroom co-op around here for $639,500 will probably be interesting to…

Hey McKenzie – there was an entire thread in the OT today about your current condition. We all decided Rob would never be able to cope.
“and you’re a loser scumbag if ever there was one. ”
Awesome again! You realize my referring to your use of caterers at parties you host as “PIMP” was intended to be a compliment, right? Same as when young people say something is “the shit” – they don’t mean that it IS shit (of poor quality) but more like “really cool”
(I’m assuming you’re some old, cranky Brooklyn Heights person – so if you’re already aware of this please disregard – and blow me.)
and you’re a loser scumbag if ever there was one.
“If I give a party, the caterers will need to make do with a separate kitchen somewhere where I can’t see it. ”
awesome!! you’re a effin PIMP!
> Definitely late 60’s early 70’s with the open plan kitchen.
Yep, the late 60’s house I grew up in had it. Perhaps that’s why I like it. Familiarity.
Definitely late 60’s early 70’s with the open plan kitchen. Most people don’t do that much cooking and developers got to save the cost of all those walls and doors separating the rooms. I agree that they are here to stay, except for among the very wealthy, who may have staff to contend with the workings of the kitchen. This apartment is a just one bedroom with a little dining room from a different era. It must be no more than 800 to 850 sf. I think it will go for 5 something.
“Ever since men decided it was cool to cook, or pretend that they could cook”
Hmm, seems to me there are lots of top chefs who are men, if not most of them. And my male friends are by far better cooks than my female friends.
I don’t think open kitchens have been really popular for more than about fifteen years. Ever since men decided it was cool to cook, or pretend that they could cook, or at least impress their friends with his fabulous macho eight-burner stove that could burn a steak to a crisp in thirty seconds. I really think women who know that cooking = cleaning are not so crazy about these showcase kitchens.
You gotta take out the wall between foyer and living room, then you’ll have room for a dining table.
