We’re definitely liking the feel of this two-bedroom apartment in a subdivided brownstone at 8 South Oxford Street. The recent renovation of the floor-through Fort Greene co-op successfully navigated the waters between traditional and modern, preserving key original details while lightening the mood with some updated features like a new kitchen and built-in shelving. The maintenance for the walk-up unit is $680 a month and the asking price is $685,000. There’s an open house on Sunday from 12-2 if you want to take a look.

  1. @BH76: OR maybe you’ve been living in Brooklyn too long (or live a townhouse). People in Mahattan live just fine with just half the space!

Is it just me or is the askew photo signaling some wonky floors? Also, the lack of bedroom photos makes it seem like it would be a tight fit.

Nice apt. not enough closet space. Which is so typical of lots of apts.

    Serious question:
Where do people, that only have one closet outside the bedroom’s, put their stuff? Vacuum, broom, mop, shoes, coats, extra towels and bed sheets, etc.

When we rented it was: hallway, corner beside sink counter, corner by the toilet, rack off the back of the door, couple of sturdy wooden trees, closet organizers and hanging closets.

    IOW, total PITA.

We bought a place this year with a similar situation. While we were on vacation in August, a carpenter we hired built out four closet and put up some high shelving (12′ ceilings).

It is blissful. I can’t fracken believe what we used to put up with to get by.

  3. Unit #1 is not on the parlor floor, but on the ground level and basement(with backyard). It’s quite dungeony, but apparently there are multiple offers in the first week I was told.

Just shows the demand for brownstone apts in South Oxford and Portland streets. This should sell in the mid 600k’s i reckon.
