This new listing at 155 Henry Street in Brooklyn Heights is very charming indeed. The prewar co-op has beamed ceilings, original wood floors and nice light; the rooms sizes are decent too. The only obvious drawback of the $469,000 co-op appears to be that there’s not a separate kitchen, just a wall kitchenette. Nice place overall though, for sure.

  1. I used to live in this building. It’s very nice and well run.

Believe it or not the small kitchens are part of the original design – I had a full set of the original plans from the person who sold me the apartment. I’ve found that many of the 20’s and 30’s buildings in Brooklyn Heights have modest apartments with really small kitchens. I think they were built as weekday apartments for Wall Streeters who returned to homes in LI or such on weekends.

  2. And, I am guessing that the kitchen is small because when these pre-war, large apartments are chopped up into smaller units, something has to give. This kitchen may have been created from a hallway that once connected to another room. I have been looking at the floor plan and cannot quite figure it out. Maybe someone else can think of this.

  3. You guys are all imbasils! (Sorry, this is borrowing a phrase from Biff Champion, M. Champignon, from the basil thread.

Mr. B. must be scratching his head now at what wharf his little commenter-lings have fallen off of. Besides this is not Bk Heights at all, it is part of the Park Slope Flats.

All in all, Bk Heights is my favorite neighborhood and I like the place.
