This landmarked 1919 townhouse sits on one of the more interesting blocks in Bed Stuy, at 92 Bainbridge Street between Lewis and Stuyvesant Avenues, in the Stuy Heights Historic District. As noted in this writeup by Suzanne Spellen, it’s got a block-long stretch of Queen Anne brownstones designed by Magnus Dahlander on one side; on the opposite is a row of semi-detached houses of Flemish brick with raised terraces with brick balustrades, “suburban style houses in the heart of the city.”

This is one of the latter, configured as a two-family with an interior garage, accessed from the rear. It’s got an apartment on each floor, with tight layouts that manage to squeeze in three bedrooms, a “studio space” with a galley kitchen and a full bath in the finished basement. Which isn’t a legal rental space, but, as the listing notes, could be duplexed with the first-floor unit.

The place is newly renovated by the prolific house-flipping concern Massada. It retains some nice original details, including parquet and herringbone floors, stained glass, and a lot of decorative wall moldings.

The staging wins the guitars-in-listing-photos sweepstakes hands down, with three guitars, an electric bass, a stand-up bass and a ukulele.

Baths and kitchens are upgraded, decently if not spectacularly. There’s no backyard, but there’s the aforementioned brick terrace in front.

It’d work as an investment property, with its bedroom-maximized layout; it could also work well reconfigured as a one-family house. Though there’s an obstacle there: the upper unit — which has a nice sunroom and a small deck — is occupied. (There’s no mention of the current lease terms except for the $3,400 a month rent.)

Listed by Elliot Nicks of Massada, it hit the market last month with an ask of $1.775 million; that’s since been dropped to $1.695 million. Like it?
