After the Long Island City Amazon HQ debacle earlier this year, any rumors of Amazon setting up shop anywhere in New York City probably seem like a big deal. Crain’s today broke the news that Amazon is considering taking a “massive space” in Industry City in Brooklyn where it can operate a logistics facility.

Guess what? They already have one right next door, in part of a building that measures 1 million square feet, so they can speed deliveries to Brooklyn and other nearby customers. Their lease is up in two years, so letting it be known they’re looking around could help them negotiate better lease terms, or they could be looking for more space.

In 2015, the tech giant signed a seven-year lease at Salmar Properties’ Liberty View Industrial Plaza at 850 3rd Avenue, with two five-year renewal options, as we reported at the time. It also opened a photo studio at 35 Kent Avenue in Williamsburg in 2013.

More recently, Amazon leased facilities in Staten Island and the Bronx, Crain’s said.
