  1. Queens residents have spoken their opinions and they are right. Enough with these ugly brick boxes which are excuses for buildings with no architectural style. Enough with the leaking bricks and rusting balconies. We are in 2014 I would hope to think Queens would be more evolved than this. Enough with those ugly eyesore satellites on houses and buildings. Enough with those stainless steel gates. It’s time to have higher standards.

  2. Hello All, I represent the listing here, and I’m quite surprised to see such strong opinions from those who haven’t actually visited the property. The construction is brick, so not sure how that can sub-standard. It’s a fantastic location with two amazing private roof decks, and very large rooms. Each unit also receives light on almost every side, as they are full floor through spaces.
I’m also shocked to see the word “third world” thrown around with such disregard. Sounds awfully negative, and mean spirited and I’m not how this idea evolved or would be associated with a new building not yet occupied.
Lastly, I would encourage those posting here who have not yet actually seen the units, and who are making such rash claims to make an appointment to view. I would love to introduce you to the property.
    Thanks for reading,
    Chris Trunell

    • I’m sorry that my use of the word “substandard” created such a firestorm. Just because I said it “looks” substandard certainly doesn’t mean it is. I’m no expert. So, people, if you’re interested, I encourage you to go and judge for yourself . . . and if you do go, don’t forget to give that penguin a nod. Or a fish.

  3. Yeah, you don’t know what the third world looks like. Because, seriously, it looks worse than that.

This building looks bad because it just plain old looks bad. I was never a fan of that color brick either and I’m sure a lot of people feel the same. Just looks cheap and pretty bad after awhile. A straight-edged, pink Flintstone vitamin color building surrounded by grey concrete on all sides and accented with bright white window trims and black metal bars all around is just not appealing to the eye. It’s actually kind of depressing and all around uninspired.
What gets me is how plain the insides are of the apartments, and the asking price. Definitely a sign that Jackson Heights will soon be outrageously pricey.

  4. This isn’t third world construction, it is built in a pure american capitalistic way. Maximize square footage, build it as cheap as possible, “screw it I don’t have to live there attitude”, sell or rent for a great profit. It’s the walmart of construction, good ol’ americana. Every crappy piece of this house can be purchased at your local home depot an american company. Fedders, another american company have built more of these types of buildings than anyone else.

  5. I don’t like this building from the outside and the photos of the inside do not appeal to me. I do think the outdoor space, location, and size will appeal to many.

Out of curiousity Joe, what “class” of person would you describe yourself as?
