The Latin American Cultural Center of Queens and the Latin American Women’s Council have joined forces to celebrate Women’s History Month with classical guitarist Francisco Roldan, soprano Olfary Gutierrez and percussionist Danny Mallon. There will also be a special presentation of “Centina Awards” to four exceptional women: Sandra Munoz, immediate past president of the Latino Lawyers Association of Queens County; Lina Puerta, a dynamic visual artist; Natalia Bernal, a celebrated singer and musician; and Sandra Llano Mejia, another forceful visual artist. The award is named after educator and poet Rita Cetina Gutierrez. Born in Mexico’s Yucatan in 1846, Cetina  founded the Siempreviva School, a scientific and literary society and a magazine. She dedicated her entire life to advancing women’s education and their right to become professionals.
