Since we last checked in with the Metropolitan Cinema and Apartments at 136 Metropolitan Avenue in Williamsburg in December, there was still plywood in all of the movie theatre, and some of the apartment, windows. Now they’re all glassed up. Opening day for the Cassandra Cinema (“a venue in which everything from the canon of historical Arthouse Cinema to the anarchy of YouTube has a home onscreen”) can’t be too far away.

wine lover is one of my idols on this board. He has given great advice about the burg with regard to schools, amenities etc. Please keep posting. I’m buying a place on the Northside.
while it is cool to have a movie theatre in the neighborhood, not sure why they had to go with the mini- times square, lights out of control, motif. pretty obnoxious. seriously has to be the most obnoxious facade in the entire neighborhood. why?
Please, no more bowling alleys, indie movie theaters, cocktail bars or tapas joints – Bank. Williamsburg. Now.

Dirty Hipster
I used to care a lot. Then they tore it all down.
Now the Commodore, that was a good movie theater.
Nope, no direct run-ins with you, wine lover.
I was simply commenting on how you were swarmed after your repulsively racist and xenophobic comments a while back.
And now you call yourself “extremely intellectually liberal.”
It’s an interesting disconnect between what you’ve said and how you view yourself.
hey – still here. still care. what is your problem with me exactly snark? i don’t recall any run ins with you…
anyway, it’s clear that most on this site are on a totally different page from me. i am an extremely intellectually liberal person. find many here to be a pretty close-minded. that’s ok. in any case, i have been buying and selling in brooklyn for over a decade, and will probably read anything and everything on brooklyn for the time being. recently, i’ve just been really really busy.
the movie theater, for the record, is great.
Not since “winelover” was tarred and feathered and run out of town.
i like how no one here really cares what goes on in billyburg.
