In a rather glowing profile of The Developers Group today, The Daily News cites one sales strategy of its founder, Elan Padeh: He asks prospective Brooklyn buyers which neighborhoods they like in Manhattan, and then directs them towards their Brooklyn equivalents. Here’s how he lines them up:
  Park Slope = Upper West Side
  Williamsburg = East Village + Tribeca
  Fort Greene = West Village
  Dumbo = Soho
  Carroll Gardens = Nolita

Pretty accurate, we’d say. What are some others?

  1. has anyone seen the developers group office? it’s freakishly modern and austere. after walking past it one dark winter night and seeing a lone woman in the glowing room at the reception desk, my husband said “hello, i’m here working in the future.” it looks like an art installation.

    have to hand it to them – built a giant business.

    @ brownstones: also, i think the tribeca/williamsburg example refers to the spaces. there are many similar lofts and while tribeca is now home to the 50 something set, back in the day, it had a vibe like williamsburg does now. i remember loft parties and sample sales in tribeca make shift apartments 15-16 years ago for sure.

    agree that people who now live in the east village like williamsburg and come often for the food and music. had someone who rents in the east village ask me the other night about what to buy there in fact.
