1307-1309 prospect avenue

The City’s Fire Department will open the doors of all of its firehouses to the public this Saturday, offering tours and an opportunity to meet local firefighters as part of its 150th anniversary celebration. It’s a rare opportunity to tour two Brooklyn firehouses that were landmarked in 2013.

One isĀ Engine Company 240, above, built in 1895. It’s located at 1307-1309 Prospect Avenue in Windsor Terrace. The other, Engine Company 28, is a Romanesque Revival-style firehouseĀ at 436 39th Street in Sunset Park. It was built in 1890.

Tours are free. Click here for more information about firehouse tours throughout the borough and the city.
