Blinds

Hi. We are moving into a new construction row house with 24 windows and 2 sliding doors.
We need blinds and/or curtains as we have no shutters. Should we buy and have a contractor install
or use a company that supplies and installs? We are looking for durability and bang for the buck.
Does anyone have a recommendation (or warnings) about specific companies. We got an estimate
from 3 Day Blinds over 6 thousand dollars. My husband is nervous about some of these companies lasting long enough to cover a 10 year warranty. Any feedback would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

I used Hunter Douglas via Home Depot. They sent someone who said she’s trained by Hunter and she helps with the measurements. Then another guy comes and does the install. Nice stuff.. I wouldn’t say it’s cheap but if you get standard roller shades it’s not too bad.

If $$ is no object or not so much of a worry, we love Hunter Douglas. We purchased al our stuff From Janovic on the corner of Ave of the Americas & Spring Street. We purchased our shades and rollup blinds 20 years ago and they still work and when we busted a thing or two they’ve sent replacement parts. You really make a deal with HD. The stores you buy will not cover their warranty but a good store will help with little hiccups. Janovic is pricey but professional. Smith & Noble make solid stuff and I also like Pottery Barn on linen curtains

Smith and noble also can supply install services. There is (or was) a store in soho to see some things in person. Not the cheapest option but good quality. Janovic also is worth visiting

Any of these design and install services are going to be expensive. Can you not measure & install them yourself? Smith and Noble has a great selection.
