This week Con Ed re-poured 3 squares of cement on the sidewalk which they had torn up in front of my house in the course of some work. Con Ed’s contractor did that unannounced and left a wooden bridge over the fresh cement. Unfortunately, after they left, vandals left sneaker prints over all 3 squares and, more seriously, gouged the cement rather badly. I just got a phone message from Con Ed in response to my complaint saying simply that their contractor \u00e2\u20ac\u0153completed the work\u00e2\u20ac\u009d and Con Ed would not redo it. My position is that until the sidewalk is poured and dried, the work was not completed, and that the vandalism could not have occurred unless Con Ed’s repair work was not yet dry, and therefore not yet complete. Moreover, I think the gouged part could be considered a hazard.<\/p>\n
Has anyone had any experience with this sort of thing? I am wondering not only whether they can be forced to repair the sidewalk again, but whether they can be forced to re-pour it rather than simply cement on ugly patches.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
