Last summer, our next door neighbors decided excavate their yard and replace the existing soil with clean fill and organic soil. To aid in this task, they placed a dumpster on the street which is mostly in front of our house so as not to block access to their yard via a side pathway. The dumpster has been there for five months and I’m getting sick of it for obvious reasons – it’s a eyesore, it’s attracting illegal dumping, it’s taking up a parking space etc. When we spoke to the homeowners, they pretty much told us to mind our own business – that they’re making an organic garden for their children and how dare we interfere with that- which I was kind of shocked by. Their plan is to keep the dumpster there until they finish the yard in the springtime. Since it’s an illegal dumpster, can I resolve this whole issue with a 311 call?
