Based on recommendations here we called up Fred with Rumba Air to do a small minspilt/ductless installation. Initially, he was fantastic — very professional and seemed very fair. He also drew up some very detailed plans. BUT, when the time came for the project, he increased the price by over 30%. When I (gently) pointed this out to him and asked if there was something I was missing, he became VERY belligerent. He also gave a series of confused and improbable explanations for the increase (for instance, he cited the increase in the cost of copper. But the project only entailed about 15 feet of copper tubing). In the end, we went our seperate ways.
I can HIGHLY recommend the guy we found to replace Freed — Chris Cosentino. He is very knowledgeable, charged a better price than Fred, and has a great personality — laid back but with a great attention to detail. His contact info: mastersmindhvac@gmail.com

Don’t Know what your refering to only thing I can speculate is the electrical panle we told you needed repair. First of all we didn’t push any elecrtical work we are hvacr contractors. Although I’m very well versed and hold certifications in the feild of Building Construction Repair as well as hvacr industry.
We survayed your project found your electrical panel to be hazard. Wether you have it changed of not that on you. We are going to point out all potential problems that may intervin in our install.
Second we issued one quote on your install for one price.
Then issued two other quotes for installation in differant locations to outdoor unit mount. You seirously need to check your self your wrong all our quotes are 15 to 30 days honrable. You pass the dead line mark as well as the alter all scope of work and want us to be resposble for entire install no way not with out compromise.

P.S. Just to be clear, I think Fred is a nice guy too and I have no doubt he does quality work. Based on my experience, though, I would use somebody who remains true to his word in terms of pricing.

I want to make clear that we at Rumba Air Conditioning follow a strict rule of ethics and respect for evryone client we deal with and serve.
We do handle small and large projects. We take advantage of no one in any way. We are just not for everyone’s project although we try to assist. In respects to Robertt Coheen & wife they are very nice people but I can’t accommodate everyone project.
I’m glade he found some one compatent to do the job he wanted me to do for practicly nothing. This is called shopping around. I’m not choosing a posting war but clearing the air wave. Wish them well.
NO PROBLEM WITH RUMBA AIR
My work and cliental speak’s for it’s self and I’m only sorry that he and his wife feel the way they do. If belligerancey is confused or misinterprated for reassurance and cerinty then it is what it is. I can’t lower the stander of our operations without a compromise then we just become another non-value company WITH NO ETHICS.

If you take your own bacon and eggs to a dinner or go to dinner and bring your own food will they cook and you and your party at the same time let you put your price on it.
In this time of day internet bashing is common the only thing I can say is take it from where it comes from.
