Can I 'fire' my selling broker?
Hello all, I have entered into an ‘exclusive right to sell’ with a broker, with an end date listed on the agreement. Do I have the ability to break this agreement and find another broker before the end date? I don’t feel this broker company is producing enough interest. Any advice is appreciated. Thanks.
Hello all,

I would have a frank discussion with him. It may be awkward, but try to start it with your thoughts about not seeing the interest you’d expected. Ask him to be honest about the asking price and the market situation.
For buyers, seeing a listing disappear and pop up with a new broker is a warning sign. You want to keep your sale looking organized and uncontroversial.
Also keep in mind the market is still not bubbling, no matter what you may hear in various news articles. Be somewhat patient and as above, look again at your ask.
You haven’t said how long they have had the listing. Have they done what they have promised e.g – taken good pictures/done the appropriate marketing/ held open houses etc? Combined with REALISTIC pricing, you should have gotten some interest. Did you get any offers? Have you thought about adjusting the price?
Many companies may simply let you out an agreement just because – but unless you can give an example of something you feel they haven’t or should have done, I don’t know what to tell you.
