My small stacked washer/dryer is located inside a cubby. The only way to get to the electric outlet and the water valves is by pulling out the washer, getting under the dryer and hoping that the person trying to get to the valves has long arms. I had an appliance repairman here who spent 10 minutes trying to get access. He told me I would never be able to do it. I am wondering what others in my situation have done. I am thinking of hiring someone to cut the sheetrock behind the unit. I think I can access the valves from the other side of the sheetrock (which is a closet). Please advise and if you know someone who could do the job you suggest, I’d appreciate that too!
Carnota1, we had exactly the same problem. Didn’t give it much thought until somebody asked what we would do (on here) in the event of a burst hose. So, we had an access panel cut in the sheetrock (also a closet) next to the machine/dryer closet. Now we can easily get in there if necessary.
Access panels (metal) are available in two sizes at Home Depot. They have a mounting flage “lip” that can grab a makeshift frame jury rigged behind the sheetrock.
It gives a finished look, and allows access.
We have a stacked washer and dryer in a narrow alcove, similar to the set-up you describe. We have a large, wooden removable panel inside the facing closet wall giving access to plumbing, exhaust, etc.
