We just bought a place in Park Slope. Before moving-in, we want to change (expand somehow) its current small kitchen counter top area (to be more functional) as well as putting brand-new room doors/moldings and changing the current old carpeted stairs with a new carpet. Can anyone recommend a reliable, experienced & fully-insured contractor (or interior design consultant) who can help me start this small project? How much should I estimate for this project? Thanks in advance!

  1. Hi Juno2010,

Check out http://www.stairporn.org/, the name is freaky but it’s a legit site about stairs and “nothing but” (their tagline). As for a recommendation I’m a huge fan of All Renovation Construction (http://www.allrenovationllc.com) they worked on my brownstone in Windsor Terrace – a “gut” job. My style is very traditional but they walked me through a really cool SOHO loft renovation project during the pre-hiring phase of my GC search. It was very modern and clean. Hope the stairs site helps you out.

    Best,
    Allan S.

  2. Hello,

We would be happy to come for a consultation. We can give you ideas when we see the space and if necessary we can then provide design services for you. It sounds like you may not need drawings, but if you need help choosing finishes or hardware we can assist. Please feel free to email me at geisner@builtinstudio.com or call at 347-599-1054.

  3. We came on here on brownstoner a couple weeks ago and got a incredible guy through recommendations on here to do our work in my home by the name of Errol. His number is 347 791 2884. Errol just got finished a few days ago and I must say that I am very happy and impressed with his work. I highly recommend this young man and I will be doing so to all of my friends and associates that need work done at their home. Errol is very professional, made me very comfortable and works with you on the pricing. Give him a call. He is great !!!!
